Frequently Asked Questions.
I’ve done other boot camps, how is this one different?
For starters, our trainers won’t yell at you! This ain’t the army, but expect to be challenged. Our goal is to make exercise fun, engaging and welcoming. We want to create a community of like-minded fitness freaks who support each other and push each other to reach their goals. All sessions will consist of a pre-workout warm-up, core, strength, cardio and conditioning elements - with activities designed to get you chatting to other people in the group.

But I'm not gay.... can I join the fun?
Yes, you are absolutely welcome. Pride Fitness is for all people. The key is respect. We started Pride Fitness to create a safe space for everyone to be themselves, meet new people and get fit whilst having fun. It doesn’t matter where on the rainbow you sit, you’re welcome.

Am I locked into a contract?
Absolutely not. We operate five week rounds. You pay for your five weeks and that’s that. Each time a new round begins, we’ll let you know and you pay for the next five weeks. You can set up a direct debit if you wish, but contracts aren’t something we do. You’ve got the flexibility of knowing that you’re only committing to five weeks of fitness. Five weeks is also a good amount of time for you to form a new habit and see results from your training.

Where in the inner west does it happen?
In summer, we train in Petersham Park, on West Street Petersham. And winter sees us escaping the cold and heading to Leichhardt Scout Hall. We train in all weather, outdoors. In the case of extreme weather, a judgement will be made on the day and communicated via our WhatsApp group.

Why is it at 6am?
You get more out of your training when it’s done before the grind of a day at work. Morning training sets your energy levels up for the day. And you’re also more likely to actually turn up. There’s less motivation after a hard day’s work

What kind of exercises are involved? I hate burpees.
Circuits vary from day to day, but you’ll get a good mix of strength and cardio training with some games thrown in to keep life interesting. Since 2018, we have not repeated a workout. A lot of creativity and evil laugher goes into the crafting of every session. Burpees are a necessary evil, you’ll learn to love them.

Should I eat beforehand? If so, what?
That depends on you. Most research suggests not to work out on a completely empty stomach, but that works for some people. Just don’t go hammering down a roast chicken. Try something small and light, like half a banana or some greek yoghurt

What if I can’t do a certain exercise?
Everything can be scaled to make it easier or harder, depending on your requirements. Or changed if you’ve got an injury

Why am I sore two days later?
It’s called DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness). It’s a thing. Embrace it, it means your body is being challenged and is changing accordingly. Don’t let it stop you coming back

What should I bring?
